Object - Australian Centre for Craft and Design and Ancient Future - Australian Arts Festival Japan 2003, presents Dinosaur Designs, a major exhibition of the distinctive jewellery and homeware design by Louise Olsen, Stephen Ormandy, and Liane Rossler at Tokyo Designers Block 2003. The exhibition celebrates the variety of work emanating from the latest range of contemporary jewellery and homewares from the talented Australian design trio. Some pieces have been inspired by traditional Japanese design and each individual range has been carefully selected to showcase the beauty, uniqueness and diversity of Dinosaur Designs work. Exhibited in the Spiral (Aoyama), the bold and vibrant colours complement the stunning circular space. Dinosaur Designs now stand as one of the most visible and successful design-based businesses in Australia. From the bohemian market stalls of Paddington (Sydney), the designers have, over 20 years, built an international company managing stores in Sydney, Melbourne, New York and exporting to more than twenty countries worldwide. From London to New York, Dinosaur Designs' eclectic range of objects have won over the hearts, necks, fingers, and tables of celebrities such as Elle McPherson, Kylie Minogue, and Naomi Campbell. Presented in conjunction with Dinosaur Designs, Encounters: Three Australian Designers in Tokyo showcases the work of Ruth McMillan, Marc Pascal and Julie Paterson. Exploring the diverse artistic vision of Australian design, Encounters provides an opportunity to view contemporary ceramics, textiles and lighting in the latest innovative designs.
