Promoting Australia's distinctive, dynamic and vibrant performing arts Australia's contemporary arts are as unique and diverse as the country they come from. This year the Australia Council's promotion will focus on Indigenous performing arts, contemporary dance and physical theatre. Australian Indigenous performance reflects one of the world's oldest cultures, mixing ancient traditions and contemporary vision. Australian contemporary dance is renowned for its energy and physicality, while Australian physical theatre companies produce some of the most exhilarating and humorous outdoor work worldwide. The innovative nature of Australia's contemporary performing arts will be showcased in a video presentation featuring internationally acclaimed companies Bangarra, Australian Dance Theatre, Stalker and Circus Oz among others. Producer, Marguerite Pepper of Marguerite Pepper Productions will share her experiences producing and touring Australian work worldwide and provide an overview of Australia's contemporary performing arts scene. Indigenous musician, director and writer David Milroy will talk about Indigenous performing arts, giving audiences an insight into the diverse world of Australia's indigenous culture and arts.
